Construction: Week 47 - Almost There

The title of this article, "Almost There," really says it all.  The list of items that are awaiting installation in Taiwan is very short.  I've noted these items for each photo along with some of the items that will be installed during commissioning in Florida.

Enjoy.

Awaiting installation:
  • Taiwan: None
  • Florida: Dingy (see below)
Explanatory Note: This week we made our final decisions on the dingy and its equipment.  It will be an AB Nautilus 13 DLX with 60 HP Yamaha equipped with a Garmin 541s multifunction display that will have a GPS, chart plotter and color display depth sounder (utilizing an in hull transducer). The Garmin 541s will me mounted on top of the console.  We chose this model as it has a 5" screen non glare screen.  The boat will also have two Yamaha digital gauges; one displaying speed and fuel and the other RPM and trim.  A special mount will enable us to clip in our ICOM M36 VHF.  We also order a custom cover (Aqualon white) and a swim ladder.

The 13 DLX is a 13 foot rib (like our 11 foot Caribe).  With 60 HP it should have a top speed of 35 MPH and cruise comfortably at 30 MPH with two aboard.  The 13 DLX has seating for 5.  We expect that it will be able to get on plane with 4 persons, which our 30 HP Caribe could not do.

The 13 DLX weighs in fully equipped at 1,000 pounds.
