Construction: Week 46 - Taiwan Launch

Another major milestone.  The yard launched Guided Discovery.  Notice that they have removed the protective covering from the hull and the fashion stripe.  For the first time we can "see" her hull "unprotected.'

1. On the cradle and moving into position for launch
2. The cradle entering the water
3. Floating on her own

4. She's pulled back so that the cradle can be lifted

5. The cradle is lifted from the water

6. She's pulled back into the slip

7. Secured to the dock
8. Port side view
Notice that there is no visible bottom paint or boot stipe.  During the sea trial the boat will be partially fueled (about 700 gallons).  Then lead weights will be added to simulate full fuel and an estimation of our personal gear.  The waterline will be marked.  Following this the boat will be hauled at which time the remaining bottom paint and boot stripe will be applied.
9. Port side with view of the hardtop electronics
The next major event is the sea trial in Taiwan.  This is a big deal requiring authorization from the Port of Koahsiung.  As it has been explained to me, pleasure boats are not allowed to operate inside the port, which, as I mentioned previously, is the 4th largest container port in the world.  Additionally, all boats require some form of government documentation.  Since the boat is still in construction, a temporary permit is required to operate the boat in the port and in the South China Sea.

Stay tuned for Friday photos (54 hours from now).

We seem to be on track for completion at the end of November.
